Motivation - Listening to signs of the Universe

I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a long time. Lately, the Universe and Spirit have been dropping unmistakable signs - and this past weekend finally pushed me over the edge. I spent the weekend working an event in Castle Rock, CO, and it was nothing short of transformative. It was my fourth event, and for the first time I felt truly sharpened, as if all the skills I’ve been cultivating were finally coming together in a clearer, more confident way.

While offering intuitive guidance to clients, a clear pattern emerged: so many of the people I connected with were writers. Some were drafting books, others were devoted journalers - journaling kept appearing as a recurring thread - and several were simply passionate about creative expression through words. One visit even came from an actual publisher, which made me take a long, excited look at the book I’ve been working on and seriously consider the next steps for it.

The synchronicities are hard to ignore. It feels as though everything is aligning to nudge me into this next chapter: launching a space where I can share insights, stories, and the lessons I’m gathering along the way. That feeling of being called to share has brought me to my first topic: learning to listen to the subtle, persistent signs of the Universe and Spirit.

Too often we’re taught—by culture, religion, family, and long-standing tradition—to defer to external authority: parents, institutions, or simply the ways things have always been done. Yet the world is changing quickly, and that old guidance no longer fits everyone’s needs. When life feels out of sync—overwhelming, confusing, or uncomfortable—that misalignment can be a signal rather than a personal failure. If your heart is quietly yearning for something different, that longing is often the first clear clue your soul and the Universe are offering toward a new path.

Start small. You don’t need to overhaul your entire life overnight. Exploring a passion, trying an intentional hobby, or carving out a little time for a new practice can open the door to deeper transformation. Spiritual practice frequently begins this way: as a curiosity, a refuge, or simply a pleasurable pastime.

For me, spirituality began as a quiet hobby that gradually became a thread running through my life. It all started when I discovered meditation while learning about Buddhism at 17 — nearly half my life ago — and I would sit for about two hours, then, almost intuitively, go outside and ground myself in the dirt just beyond the back porch. Nobody instructed me to do this; it simply felt right, and I followed the impulse. Around that same time I found myself attending church on my own, a choice that surprised even me and was something many of my friends never considered. Years passed with me falling in and out of consistent practice, diving into organized religion and then stepping away again. I listened to spiritual podcasts, devoured books on personal and spiritual growth, and spent much of my twenties in deep contemplation. Of course I experienced the typical things twenty-somethings do, yet there was always a subtle, persistent nudge toward spirituality I couldn't fully explain — and a sense that I didn’t yet know what to do with this part of myself.

It wasn’t until I became pregnant with my first child in 2019 that I began to take this path with real intention. I recognized, even if I couldn't fully articulate it then, that the life I grew up in wasn't the safest or healthiest environment for children, and I was determined my children wouldn't feel the same ways I had as a child. I returned to meditation, but after my son’s birth I sank into severe postpartum depression and had only a few people to turn to — mostly my husband’s family rather than my own. In that dark time I again stepped away from spiritual practice, until my daughter was born in 2022. Knowing she would be my only girl, and last child, I resolved to show her that being intuitive and sensitive is not a flaw but a profound strength, one the world too often teaches us to hide. Since then, I have been consciously modeling and nurturing that part of myself for her and my son, determined they will grow up embraced and empowered by it.

I attended my first Reiki session in 2023, where I realized I could offer something aligned with a hobby I’d cherished for years. I took my first Reiki training in 2024 and loved everything I learned. Wanting something more connected to nature, animals, and crystals, I unexpectedly found a Shamanic Reiki Training for Levels 1 and 2 a few months later, and it taught me exactly what I’d been seeking, including Shamanic Journey techniques. Just the other day I was wishing that the group where I’d received my initial Shamanic Reiki training—Shamanic Reiki Worldwide—would offer a Shamanic Reiki Master Training so I could pursue Master certification. Not even a week later I received an email announcing they were indeed offering one, which is a rare occurrence for them.

What I’m trying to convey is that the Universe kept sending subtle confirmations—small signs, quiet invitations, and unexpected opportunities—that encouraged me to continue. Following those nudges has led to meaningful growth both personally and professionally. Now I’m in the process of pursuing my Master certification in Shamanic Reiki, taking Yoga Teacher training, and—funny enough, because I’d also been thinking about facilitating breathwork—I received an invitation to join a Breathwork/Pranayama course at a reduced rate since it’s a new offering through the company where I’m doing my Yoga Teacher training. I couldn’t be more amazed; these recurring opportunities keep me motivated. The Universe seems to be placing them in my path again and again, and I feel confident that I can meet the challenges and responsibilities they bring.

If you’re sensing a gentle nudge toward something more, honor it. Listen to those signs, explore what calls to you, and take kind, deliberate steps forward. The journey can be gradual, but it often leads to a life that feels truer and more aligned with your inner self. The more you listen and sincerely follow the guidance of this beautiful inner voice, the more synchronicities and intuitive nudges you will begin to notice. This is the Universe speaking directly to you. It will awaken a new sense of motivation and reveal an abundance of life’s offerings beyond what you once imagined possible. I used to think people who spoke this way were misguided—certain life couldn’t turn out any better than I had pictured. Now, as living proof, I can attest that it can—and it does.

If you’re feeling the same confusion I once felt, and feel spiritually called, schedule a consult with me; together we’ll explore the next steps for your soul, help decipher the messages the Universe is sending, and guide you gently toward greater clarity and a more fulfilling life.
